Kempner found that diseases like diabetes and hypertension were rarely found in people who used rice as their staple food. Kempner developed a diet that included juices, fruits, rice, sugar and iron supplements for people who suffered from health related problems like hypertension and diabetes. This diet program that was started in 1939 has helped many people who are suffering from problems like obesity, hypertension, heart diseases and diabetes.
Rice Diet program is a well-respected program and not a fad diet that comes and goes. The program also provides for lectures and discussions on stress management, exercises and nutritional requirements of the body.
Initially people who join the program have can eat only a limited number of items. However, as the program progresses they can chose from foods like vegetables, fruits, fish and beans. Most people are under the impression that Rice Diet includes only rice and you cannot have any other food items. In fact, you can choose from as many as 30 food items.
If you opt for Rice Diet, your salt intake is restricted as the body swells with salt and water intake. Salt is also a problem for people who have high blood pressure and problem in their kidney. Limiting salt intake also reduces health risk like blood pressure, cholesterol, problems in the heart and many other health problems.
